The wait is finally over for off-road EV enthusiasts. SPG Automobiles, the authorized distributor of Jaecoo vehicles in Nepal, has officially launched the Jaecoo J6T—a thoroughly refined facelift of the pioneering J6.

While the cosmetic changes may look subtle at first glance, they come together to deliver a much tougher, more mature, and better-resolved electric SUV. The J6T replaces the outgoing J6, taking a hard look at the previous model's limitations to deliver a highly capable vehicle suited for Nepal's challenging road conditions.

Brand Context & Market Strategy

Jaecoo operates as a sub-brand of Chery, specializing in exporting premium urban off-road SUVs. The brand made its entry into Nepal in 2024 with the launch of the J6, subsequently expanding its portfolio in 2025 with the J5 SUV.

With the arrival of the J6T in 2026, Jaecoo aims to phase out the original J6 entirely. Although the J6T is currently limited to specific markets like Thailand, SPG Automobiles moved quickly to secure its release in Nepal, responding to the growing demand for rugged, high-clearance electric vehicles.

Exterior and Design Upgrades

The Jaecoo J6T maintains the bold, boxy, one-body "wide-body" design that made the J6 stand out, but executes it with a far more aggressive and serious styling language.

Front Styling

• Refined Fascia: The vertical textured front panel of the original J6 has been replaced with a clean, solid gloss black cover.
• Logo Transition: The central "i" logo has been removed in favor of a cleaner, more commanding presentation.
• Improved Protection: The bumper gets a rugged dual-guard setup, and the skid plate integrates seamlessly with the body-colored bumper.

Side & Rear Profile

• Fender Detailing: Extended fenders and flared arches give the J6T a wider stance, complemented by functional air vents on the front fenders to manage aerodynamic drag.
• Alloy Wheels: The SUV rides on fully blacked-out 19-inch alloys.
• Rear Storage Compartment: The signature external toolkit box remains (offering 22.5 liters of storage). Accessing it is now easier thanks to a side-mounted mechanical button, replacing the previous model's "i" button mechanism.
• Identity Details: Subtle "i" motifs remain integrated into the rear side lighting elements, preserving a nod to the vehicle's heritage.

Interior Comfort and Technology

The boxy design theme translates directly into the cabin, mirroring the premium layout of the J6. Square-cut elements dominate the air vents, glove box opening, door handles, and control knobs.

• Steering Wheel: The earlier "i" logo on the steering boss is replaced with a premium "Jaecoo" script.
• Upholstery: Leatherette seats feature heating and ventilation for the front row. The driver’s seat includes memory settings and a Welcome Mode.
• Infotainment Control: The dashboard is dominated by a giant 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen. Since physical buttons are almost entirely absent (except for steering wheel controls), functions must be accessed via the display.
• Feature Suite: Additional features include a 9.2-inch digital driver's display, a premium 12-speaker Infinity sound system, a 50W wireless phone charging pad, a panoramic sunroof, and dual-zone climate control.

Powertrain, Battery, and Range

Under the hood, the J6T keeps the same robust powertrain setup. It is driven by a 135 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) sending 183.5 PS and 220 Nm of torque to the rear wheels (RWD).

• Chassis Construction: Similar to premium SUVs from Land Rover, the J6T uses an all-aluminum structure. This dramatically decreases weight without sacrificing safety, providing superior handling on and off the road.
• RWD Advantage: The rear-wheel-drive layout provides excellent initial acceleration, pushing the vehicle from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.5 seconds. The top speed is capped at 150 kmph.
• Battery Capacity: It runs on a 69.8 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack.
• Range Explanation: The J6T claims a 431 km NEDC range compared to the 400 km WLTP range claimed by the older J6. The difference is due to the test cycles, as NEDC is generally less stringent than WLTP. Under real-world driving conditions in Nepal, a range of 350–370 km is realistically achievable.

Off-Road Capability and Suspension

The J6T features a front MacPherson Strut and a rear Multi-Link suspension system. The ground clearance has been bumped up by 25 mm to 225 mm, which is an excellent addition for handling bumpy highways and rocky trails.
