About
The Taj Mahal, built between 1631 and 1648, is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture combining Persian, Islamic, and Indian styles. The white marble mausoleum changes color throughout the day, appearing pinkish in the morning, white during the day, and golden under moonlight.
Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a red sandstone fortress built by Emperor Akbar. It contains palaces, mosques, and audience halls. Fatehpur Sikri, 40km from Agra, was Akbar's abandoned capital with remarkable architecture.
The city is also known for its marble handicrafts, embroidery, and leather goods. The best time to visit is between October and March when temperatures are moderate.
