About

Penang is widely regarded as the street food capital of Asia. The food reflects its multicultural heritage: Char Koay Teow (stir-fried flat noodles), Assam Laksa (sour fish noodle soup), Nasi Kandar (Indian-Muslim rice with curry), Cendol (shaved ice dessert), and Hokkien Mee (prawn noodle soup).

George Town's street art, created by Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic, has become iconic. The city's colonial architecture includes Chinese shophouses, British administrative buildings, and Moorish-influenced structures. Penang Hill offers a cool escape from the tropical heat with a funicular railway and panoramic views.

Kek Lok Si Temple in Air Itam is the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia, combining Chinese, Thai, and Burmese architectural styles. The temple complex includes a massive bronze statue of Kuan Yin. Batu Ferringhi offers beach resorts, watersports, and a vibrant night market.
