About
The Everest Base Camp trek is a 130-kilometer round trip that takes 12-14 days. The trek starts with a flight into Lukla, then ascends through Sherpa settlements, suspension bridges, and rhododendron forests to the base of the world's highest mountain.
The trail offers spectacular views of Everest (8,848m), Lhotse, Nuptse, and Ama Dablam. Acclimatization days are built into the itinerary at Namche Bazaar (3,440m) and Dingboche (4,410m) to prevent altitude sickness.
EBC itself is at 5,364 meters, but the best mountain views are from the summit of Kala Patthar (5,644m), accessible via a side hike. The trek requires good physical fitness and proper gear. Teahouses along the route provide accommodation and meals.
