Galaxy S27 Ultra Leaks: 200MP Camera, Bigger Battery, and a Cooling Downgrade From Qualcomm

It's still more than half a year out, but the leak machine for Samsung's next flagship is already running at full speed. The Galaxy S27 Ultra, expected to arrive sometime in 2027, is shaping up to bring a major camera overhaul, a noticeably bigger battery, and a faster chipset, though one part of that chipset story comes with an asterisk.

Display and Software

Current leaks describe a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with QHD+ resolution, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and peak brightness reaching up to 3,000 nits. On the software side, the phone is tipped to launch on Android 17 with One UI 9.0 layered on top, backed by a commitment to seven years of software and security updates.

Camera Upgrades

The biggest jump may come from the cameras. Leaks suggest Samsung will swap the current 3x telephoto lens for a 5x periscope telephoto setup, paired with a 200MP main sensor that brings improved HDR processing. The ultra-wide camera is rumored to move up to 50MP, while the front-facing selfie camera could be bumped to 24MP from its current resolution.

Battery and Charging

Battery capacity is expected to land somewhere between 5,500mAh and just over 6,000mAh, a meaningful step up that leaks attribute to Samsung exploring high-density silicon-carbon battery tech, which can pack more capacity without thickening the phone. Charging is rumored to top out at 65W wired, alongside 25W Qi2 magnetic wireless charging.

The Chipset, and a Cooling Catch

The Galaxy S27 Ultra is widely expected to run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, a 2nm chip reportedly paired with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR6 RAM and up to 1TB of storage. According to separate reporting, this Pro variant will reportedly be the only Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip with LPDDR6 support, priced around $300 per unit and reserved for top-tier flagships, while a cheaper non-Pro version sticks with LPDDR5X. Qualcomm is also said to be restructuring its CPU cluster to a 2+3+3 layout instead of the current 2+6 design, paired with a 16MB L2 cache aimed at cutting latency.

Here's the twist: Qualcomm has apparently built its own version of Samsung's Heat Path Block, the copper heat sink introduced with the Exynos 2600 to keep that chip from overheating, directly into the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. But tipster Reptalica, responding to a question on X, said Qualcomm's version "isn't as effective as the Exynos implementation," without elaborating on why. For context, Samsung's original Heat Path Block reportedly made the Exynos 2600 around 30% cooler than its predecessor, and the company is already working on a second-generation version, called Side-by-Side, for the upcoming Exynos 2700.

Price in India

Indian leaks point to a starting price between Rs 1,39,999 and Rs 1,45,990 for the base 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. As with every other detail here, this pricing comes from unofficial sources, so it's worth treating as a rough indicator rather than a confirmed figure.

Price in Nepal (Expected)

Samsung hasn't said anything official about Nepal pricing, and given that even the India figures are leaks, any Nepal estimate at this stage is really a leak of a leak.
